THE CABINET
NO HAY BANDA
October 2026
A salon on illusion, identity and image in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive.
At Club Silencio there is no band and yet the music plays. The singer collapses and the song carries on without her. We took that scene as the film's instruction manual and followed it. Is Betty the real self beneath Diane, or Diane beneath Betty? What if there is no one underneath, only illusion all the way down? With Jung along for the ride, we sat with the cowboy in the desert and the figure guarding the blue box, and listened for what remains in the silence between illusions.
FROM THE ROOM
“Being a David Lynch fan for nearly four decades I knew I’d be taking the No Hay Banda ‘class’ as soon as I read its description, but of course I had no idea how it would turn out. Mulholland Drive has always perplexed me, but in the best way, the way that requires rewatching. Cassie’s intro promised that we weren’t going to be looking for answers with our discussion, but we would be asking more questions. She was a natural facilitator, which is pretty important when hosting zoom calls with strangers from around the world. One aspect I really appreciated was the attention to detail in the artwork of her presentation… I gleaned lots of new insights from both Cassie and the other participants. If you are into the alchemical, Jungian and/or surreal aspects of creativity I’d recommend checking out any of her future endeavors.” - Laurence
“Cassie’s workshop was like a step through a threshold into a world where to-do lists, goals and plans make no sense. The psyche exposed to images, sounds and concepts, exploring textures of surfaces it commonly just brushes over in everyday life. Taking the time to rewatch Mulholland Drive was just a first step into the cloakroom of Club Silencio… an experience that stayed with me many hours and days after. Her class was well structured and organised, and kept everyone engaged to the degree of their choice. Listening to the different thoughts and perspectives of fellow participants brought new insights and inspiration for my own work.” - Gabriela

WHAT THE IMAGINATION KNOWS
The Study ND · September–October 2026
A four-week class on poetic imagination and what it knows that rational thinking cannot.
Some knowledge arrives sideways, in the image that lands before you've understood it and the line that is right before it makes sense. Over four weeks we read poets who trusted that kind of knowing: Emily Dickinson, Rainer Maria Rilke, Paul Celan, Joyce Mansour, E. E. Cummings, Wallace Stevens and Octavio Paz. Drawing on Jungian psychology and alchemical symbolism, we explored what poetry knows, how it knows and what it might just mirror how we come to know ourselves
FROM THE ROOM
“I learned about Jungian philosophy and a lot about not being afraid to just bring myself as I am to poetry.”
“She honored everyone’s comments. She also added her own commentary where appropriate, after hearing the rest of ours.”
“We should have more classes from this instructor — she is terrific.”
