NO HAY BANDA

You have watched it twice and you still do not know what happened.

Mulholland Drive is not a puzzle with a solution. It is a dream with a dreamer — and like all serious dreams it knows more than it is willing to say directly. It works on the viewer the way the unconscious works on the sleeper: through doubling, through displacement, through the image that means one thing on the surface and something else entirely underneath.

In this workshop we watch the film the way a depth psychologist reads a dream — not to solve it but to follow it. We ask what the double knows that the single self cannot bear to know. We ask what Club Silencio is the threshold of. We ask why the blue box.

We do not arrive at answers. We arrive at better questions.

Prior viewing of Mulholland Drive is required. If you have not seen it, watch it twice.

No hay banda. There is no band.

Everything you heard was real.

Who this workshop is for

For anyone who takes dreams seriously — their own or other people's. For writers and artists interested in doubling, the shadow, and the knowledge the self protects itself from. For the viewer who felt something shift during Club Silencio and has never quite been able to say what.

You do not need a background in film studies or depth psychology. You need to have felt that this film was doing something to you rather than for you.

What the workshop covers

We open with the Club Silencio sequence. Watched without commentary. One question to the room: what just happened?

From there we follow the film the way you follow a dream — through the double, the threshold, the figure that cannot be faced directly. We ask what the dream was protecting the dreamer from and what it cost her to know.

There is optional writing toward the end — a prompt that takes you into the territory the film has opened. No sharing required.
