WHAT THE CARDS DO NOT SAY

A four-week laboratory in tarot for creative practice, the surface encounter, and the autonomous image.

The card is face up on the table. Maybe you have never seen it before; perhaps you have seen it a hundred times and think you know what it means. Either way, something in the image is pulling at you. Not the symbol. Not the number. Something in the figure's hands, the way the light falls, or a shape at the edge of the frame that the guidebooks never mention.

The tarot is layered with four centuries of accumulated occult, psychological, and archetypal meaning. All of it is useful - and all of it, eventually, acts as a buffer between you and the raw encounter with the image. This four-week laboratory removes the buffer. We treat the cards not as predictive fortune-telling tools, but as active catalysts and serious instruments of inquiry for writing, making and thinking.

Drawing on Carl Jung’s concept of the psychoid and Joseph Cambray's psychoid imagination, we treat these visual specimens as live thresholds where mind and matter co-arise. We sit with the card before it is translated into predictable sense, using the image to spark an unexpected collision - testing how staying with the nonsensical allows us to break through ordinary creative habits and strike fire between distant realities.

Over the four weeks we use the cards as generators. As provocations. As objects that arrived from somewhere and carry more than they were given.
