WHAT THE CARDS DO NOT SAY
The card is face up on the table. Maybe you have never seen it before. Perhaps you have seen it a hundred times and think you know what it means. Either way, something in the image is pulling at you. Not the symbol. Not the number. Something in the figure's hands. The way the light falls. A shape at the edge of the frame that the guidebooks never mention.
That pull is the beginning of the course.
The tarot is four hundred years old and layered with accumulated meaning — occult, psychological, archetypal. All of it useful. All of it, eventually, a buffer between you and the raw encounter with the image. This course removes the buffer. It asks you to sit with the card before you know what it means, to follow the pull before you name it, to let the image work on you the way a dream works — strange, precise, not yet translated.
Over four weeks we use the cards as generators. As provocations. As objects that arrived from somewhere and carry more than they were given.
Bring your intuition.
Leave the guidebook behind.
WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR
Writers and artists looking for a way into material they cannot reach through deliberate making. Anyone curious about the tarot as a creative and psychological tool rather than a predictive one. People who have felt the pull of a card image without knowing why.
Prior knowledge of tarot is not required. It may even be an advantage not to have it — those with established tarot practice may need to consciously set aside the established meanings. This is part of the work.
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
WEEK ONE
The raw encounter. Looking before knowing. What the image does before interpretation arrives.
WEEK TWO
The card and the unconscious. What arrives when established meaning steps aside. The image as a generator of the unexpected.
WEEK THREE
The card in creative practice. Using the tarot as a serious instrument of inquiry — for writing, making, thinking.
WEEK FOUR
The cards as a sustained practice. Developing your own relationship to the images beyond the course.
